a 6.3 from 60mi away can still be pretty significant. In the 1971 6.6Mw Sylmar earthquake, I was 65 miles away in Orange County and it emptied our pool. Probably not dangerous at that distance, but certainly of note.

I was only 2 miles away from the epicenter of the 6.7 Northridge Earthquake and I was little thrown in the air. Fortunately, I was in bed and the landing was soft. My home was red tagged from all of the damage. Fortunately, i was a renter at the time.

Being on top of a 5.0 could be pretty scary though.

For tonight's earthquake, I thought my wife bumped the couch. That was the extent of the effect from 20miles away.
