No prominent politician, Democratic or Republican, is willing to sacrifice a city for the sake of moral purity.

This is absolutely correct. In spite of all Obama's "no-torture" rhetoric, if the CIA came to him and said, "Mr. President, we have reason to believe NYC is about to be attacked and we have a guy in custody who knows the details. But we haven't been able to crack him by being nice. Can we waterboard him?" -- Obama would flip on this issue so fast it would make your head spin.

So, it isn't a matter of whether we will waterboard people. It is a question of at what price.
