Sure they CAN do this, I'm saying its a very negative thing. Not that its impossible or even illegal, but that its political manipulation of the bankruptcy process which is itself a bad idea, and that it will tend to have an effect of discouraging lending to Chrysler in the future (and probably to any company with a lot of debt and politically well connected junior creditors). The can do it but they shouldn't.
