The fact is that everyone from Reagan and Bush to Obama has been a candyman, as this chart attests to. The only difference is that Republicans borrow money to stimulate the economy through tax cuts, whereas the Democrats borrow money to stimulate the economy through public works and investment in new industries, such as the renewable energy industry. Neither Party is fiscally conservative and the current stimulus package is small in comparison to what Bush Jr did.
