I have always been for privatizing social security, but my family and I have been rethinking this solution for the first time in our lives. Imagine if Bush had been successful and then everyone moved their social security dollars into the stock market. Everyone's social security retirement would be worth 40% less right now. Wow. We dodged a bullet.

So I'm still for privatization and tagging SS dollars to peoples SS #, but I'd want the gov't to ensure people can only invest in a range of VERY conservative investments. It's a good compromise.
