That is simply not true. Scientists use the word singularity to explain 'nothing' and this term is essential to understanding the phenomenon of Black Holes in the Universe. From that many claim the Big Bang has a source of understanding, wherein the something that expands into the Universe comes from ... nothing, or a state of singularity.

The Bible doesn't actually say exactly that. Ex nihilo actually comes from Greek philosophers.
