>>actually, enrollment is up (not down) from 5.9mil (1999-00) to 6.2mil (2007-08) and expenditures are up ~60% (not 100%) during the same period ($6,300/student to $10,200/student).<<

marcher, i accept this data. i think i must've misunderstood the radio host. in this context, they are probably referring specifically to LA unified. while my data was wrong, the point the still stands.

the amount spent per child is up 61.9% over the last decade, not 100%. what has this 62% increase purchased for us?

1. how much has the drop out rate increased/decreased?
2. how much has SATs increased / decreased?

either number proves the education money grab. it is like arguing whether madoff stole $90 billion or $50 billion makes a difference in whether he was wrong for doing what he did...

the answer is irrelevant - it is FRAUD either way!

90% pensions to the wealthiest teachers in the nation that can't be laid off is too much to ask as we enter a depression. they used to argue they needed the money due to housing increases... and that sounded pretty good. low and behold, we find out they need more money when housing collapses, too. they just need more money. perhaps they need to be paid to go to the doctor, the $0 out of pocket isn't enough. perhaps they don't appreciate not being laid off like 12%-20% of private sector employees, contractors and small business people. perhaps 90% isn't enough for a pension - they want 120%!

everyone else has to make due with much less, it is time for the government class to do the same. try living like the rest of us - 0% pension. fund your own pension, don't force the private citizens to fund your retirement as well as their own. stop bribing the politicians for 50% pension increases and stop lying about tax increases being "tax increase prevention."

we are on to the lies! spending for prop 1A was about 5-1 spending against and it got beat like scrambled eggs. i wouldn't be surprised if every demographic voted it down.

this is a big issue. prop 1A failed in every single demographic during a pre election poll... black, white, hispanic, pink, green, rich, poor, republican, democrat - they all shot it down.

the private class can't be flogged anymore.

prop 1A burned, right along with arnold's legacy and the trash!

raising taxes on the unemployed was over the top - the government class declared war on the citizenry and the citizenry is now fighting back.

and yes - i already pay the CA education tax - i have to send my son to private school because i want him to have a better chance at a good education in a productive environment.
