>>So who do we blame then as now for overspending?<<

gvoernment. that would be obama and the dem congress right now.

>>Reagan was dealing with an overwhelmingly Democratic House and after 1986 a Democratic Senate with no line item veto power. The Reagan tax cuts doubled the Federal tax revenue.<<

that's temporary. tax cuts only generate so much before they start to hurt revenues. a tax rate of 0% brings in $0.

>>Congress managed to spend every penny of it and then some.<<

an reagan signed off and stood by mum. reagan got what he wanted. *that's* my point. reagan had his priorities and massive deficits fit right in with his agenda.

remember, deficits make the owners of the fed rich. remember who put greenspan in place - a guy who made the fed owners even richer.

>>At least now we have the line item veto, although I don't think the current administration will be vetoing any spending.<<

not any more than the last one! republicrats and demicans are different sides of the *same* coin.

>>Skeet, I know you are up on CA politics, does the Gobernator have the line item veto?<<

no, i don't think he wants it. he's gray davis with saggy muscles now.

>>5 props went down in flames. Now we'll see if they get the message in Sacramento. Doubt it.<<

they won't. they'll vote another tax increase and guess who will be responsible?

republicrats, just like when they passed the largest tax increase in state history a few months ago - and they were all in it together - the republicrats voted to put 1A on the ballot.
