"Some people just aren't comfortable with unknowns..."

That would be people like you.

Some people are comfortable enough to seek where other people refuse to venture at all. You are not comfortable with the concept of eternity, so it's undiscussable with you, which is why I am willing to let you define the alternative and proceed with that discussion on your terms. But you've become uncomfortable even with that. The alternative is based in the scientifically observable temporal nature of the universe, which is the home of comfort for atheists. You are comfortable with that until you are tasked with seeming untenable complications, filled with conflict, irony, and paradox. These too are facts of the observable universe. Reason, purpose, conscious awareness, moral conditions are facts just as observable. You balk even at venturing down that path when the boundaries of your belief in atheism begins to be challenged. That is why, people tell you that it is faith based.
