My 'logic' simply asked the question: Why, when asked to vote on more taxes, you do not also write a check. I, in my disorganized manner, have no need to invoke thousands of years of human history. A history, of course, that involves almost no data about individual actions, but rather the actions of groups. So, again, How do you justify NOT writing a check to cover your part of the new taxes? You want the new taxes. You have TOTAL control of your checkbook. Make use of it to change the world. No need to depend on us folks who do NOT want new taxes. Democracy does not forbid individual action. Why, wanting the new taxes, would you rather give money to other causes and not write a check to your government? That you give tons of money to people beside ( your) taxes. is no answer. Why don't you pay for new taxes that you want? Maybe you have some feeling that you can spend your 'tons of money' better than the government? Else why not just send them your 'tons of money'? Next time you feel the desire to give 'tons of money to people' just write the check to cover the last tax increase that failed. Better yet, just don't designate the use, just send the 'tons of money' to your favorite government agency! RE ears: I, of course, am quite happy not to be 'all ears'. Ears have no logic. Surely, the din of all those voices must confuse you. koan: The manner in which I live my life is my most important concern and that means being as kind, honest and generous as I can be. And I rasied my two duagters to be the same way and am proud to say they are also kind and generous. The only thing I never allowed at all were racism, sexism and other types of bad behavior like cruety to animals. Totally in agreement. I refuse to take things from the unwilling even when I think my use is on a higher plane. I find that I can be more generous if I can write checks to individuals (from my accounts) rather than pay taxes. But that may just be because my checking account has a limited balance. When your trust fund runs out, you will know what I mean. R2O
