They have deer on Catalina Island but no hunting. The deer come down from the mountains and feed on the flowers and gardens. They're considered a nuisance because the residents can't do anything about it. Putting up fences is useless because they just break them down. It only affects the folks who live in the higher elevations so it's considered a non-problem.

The mountains in the background is where most of them come from.

We have friends in the hills nearby (well within the Eastside of Seattle area, though....) that have lots of deer who pass by ....finally Bob gave up and put out a nice metal sign that says:

Dear Deer: Follow the Arrow to the Roses --->





I don't know about that. They were putting up fences to keep the deer off their garden.
