I've heard that having fewer CCs reduces your chances of identity theft.

I got rid of most of mine and use the one I have for all of my CC purchases simply to accumulate air miles.

I also have ID theft insurance.

I couldn't care less what my credit rating is. I'm not in the market to buy a house. I haven't missed a house payment in 20 years. If someone cares more about me getting a best buy card than that record then I don't want to do business with them.
