Frankly, if I had to choose, I'd rather have a good bear repellant aerosol than a firearm, if it came down to a confrontation with a bear. If I didn't have to choose, I'd want both.

More than once over the yrs when we've been hiking in a nearby state park (known for occasional bear visits), I've wondered outloud if we could outrun a bear. Hubby consistently responds "I don't have to outrun the bear - just you." LOL
