But let's be realistic, the odds of an individual being in an accident where the size of their car will make a real difference in their injuries or survival are very, very small, on a par with many other random accidents that can occur.

I don't drive larger vehicles because I don't like driving them. For me, I'll take that tiny "risk" of the smaller vehicle for the comfort and pleasure derived from driving what I like.

FWIW, my car is rated 4 stars on front impact and 5 stars on side impact by the Feds. I can live with that.
