As one analyst said of the two speeches, one was a campaign speech and one was detail oriented on the business of running government.

We are being led by naive and clueless people that love the sound of their own voices.

First half of Obama's speech sounded like he'd reverted to campaign mode again.

I haven't had a chance to hear Cheney but I already know it would have been a reasonable, well-thought out and articulate explanation of what happened so the American public would understand why what was done was done.

I just caught snippets of O once again blaming Bush. He loves to hear the sound of his voice - you can tell when he's pleased with the way he said something.

In a former career, I had to teach executives how to use the Teleprompter and it was obvious when they "got" it and would want to do several takes to get it right. For some, it became something they looked forward to doing. It was easy to see when they got on a roll and were pleased with themselves.

Just like singers love getting in front of a microphone and listening to their own voice, and then enjoy the applause afterwards, o is addicted to the same thing.

I heard only part of Cheney's speech because I had to leave early, but what I heard was rational, fair, and respectful.
