I was watching a debate about the issue of Guantanamo between Chamblis and Durbin in the house on CSPAN earlier this evening. When watching these debates one can't help but note the stark differences between the two positions.

If anyone wants to understand why having a majority in power is essential, this exchange was instructional.

Also watched the press conference before that.

Republicans have definitely taken off the gloves. Their argument for keeping Gitmo open was compelling, and it will be hard for anyone...dem or repub....to refute them. During that conference Mitch McConnell directly challenged Obama to produce a plan for closing Gitmo if he expects any kind of funding. He also said that what ever that plan may contain doesn't guarantee funding.

Americans are not going to agree to funding a new facility, and they are not going to tolerate foreign terrorists on American soil.

The One has painted himself into a corner.

Unlike a lot of the whacked out and vociferous liberals, you notice I wasn't nasty, obnoxious, vulgar or hateful while discussing this issue.

And if someone wants to make an issue of me calling President Obama "The One" I would argue I am not the person who first called him that. The term was coined by Oprah Winfrey.........one of his staunchest supporters.
