The only thing the Danes and Swedes and Fins are doing differently than us is thinking better. Look at what the right wing is saying. You think those clowns who have been in control for 30 years have any friggen idea of how to put together a civilized society, or well functioning social structure? >>Good example with the Danes. Norway is another great example of that. The US is bigger and poorer per capita, so I'm not sure that we can implement those models. However, you are correct that tax levels and happiness are not correlated. Think about this, though. I know the GOP is mostly interested in crony capitalism nowadays. We can all thank Cheney more than anyone else for that. However, right now, I get a negative return on my invested social security dollars. When they fix social security by taxing us more or raising the age requirement, then I will get even more of a negative return. If the Congress were to privatize it and give Wall Street 2% of the cut, then sure that is crony capitalism to a certain extent. However, my return on investment would become positive, so it is a win win. Right now, it is a losing proposition for me at a time when I need every penny I earn to be funneled into retirement and college education for my kids<<
