I am persuaded that the US$ will continue to move both up and down as various tranches of the credit collapse take center stage. Commercial credit is collapsing now, the UK goes under this summer (needs IMF loans), pension system crises perhaps by the end of Q3 '09 or in Q4 '09--collapse= point of recognition. Still to come are pay-option mortgages and alt-As, peaking in March 2010. Just when it seems the US$ is headed for the basement, it comes back with a renewed demand for liquidity as each credit tranche calls out asset sales for US$ to cover obligations.

Wonder what would happen if we just stop sending money to all the countries we help?

Huge deficits and continued efforts to police the world will not stop until foreign creditors FORCE this outcome via a dollar crisis which triggers surging interest rates and inflation in the US.

"If we cannot find buyers of our debt do folks understand what happens?

Government must shut down. Or sell gold (we have none as it has all been stolen and shipped offshore) and other assets or slash and burn. All will hammer the economy and markets!
