You name one specific freedom, that's already gone, and show that that specific freedom isn't lost. That's not an argument that no freedom is lost.

The freedom to drive (or really to manufacture, sell, and thus buy new) cars free of any CAFE standard was gone in 1975 (actually 1978, the law as passed in '75 but the standard didn't effect passenger cars right away).

The freedom to buy a car free on the 18.0 MPG standard was gone in 78. The freedom to buy a car free of the 19.0 MPG standard was gone in 79. 20 in 80, 22 in 81, 24 in 82, etc. Each is an additional loss of freedom.

Or would you say know freedom would be lost if there was a national speed limit of 200 mph and then it was cut to 4 mph?
