It is....OTOH, a lot of grocers are selling rotisserie chicken in the deli, and there's been a bit of a price war on that. They sell a whole chicken there for 4.99, and they are pretty good. I like buying 'em to use cooked meat for chicken enchiladas sauce verde or chicken-andouille gumbo. It the value-add of cooking only costs me a buck, I'm probably spending that in propane to beer can it (of course, I can do 2 at a time on the grill).

I hate to sound like Mish on this, but I'm not seeing a lot of inflation in grocery items OVERALL. There are enough discounted specials run to take the sting out if you shop smart. Hell, I bought a case of Bud for 14.99 and a 1.75 liter bottle of Seagram's extra dry gin for 14.99. Maybe cheap booze is a lifeline in a Depression....

OTOH, the Maytag blue cheese stuffed olives for the Martinis were 5.99. I know I got burned there, but hey, WGW was up for the week, I can splurge.
