OT / Re: exploding medical care costs - What we are going to have is a form of rationing, either by co-pays going up and fewer proceedures covered by employer insurance, more employers dropping insurance for employees, cuts in medicare coverage, etc. Most likely by all of the above.

The only built-in good deals and cost reductions are -

1) patented drugs going off patent, and getting generic competition. Lipitor a good example.
2) Drug, nutritional and lifestyle changes that avoid/postpone surgery.
3) The end of depreciation charges on expensive medical imaging equipment.
