Well our science has more pretty fast in the last 100 years, what will it be like in 1000, 5000, 10,000 years. That's if the greens don't send us back to the dark ages. What if an alien race's science is 100,000 years ahead of us ??

The nearest star is a little over four light YEARS away. So, if a voyager traveled AT the speed of light, it would take more than four years to get there, and the same to return - for the traveller. On Earth, much more time would pass.

I would be surprised if the speed of light turns out to be the ultimate limitation to travel. If it does prove to be just that, then I suspect its by design.
