I, as well, like SYY for total return. Another possible dividend payer where the payout seems "safe" is KMB. I own MMM, and the dividend there seems relatively "safe". I guess the cautionary word should be that one should question the safety of virtually everything in the environment we're in. Witness to that are BAC, C, DOW, I could go on ad nauseum. I have also recently purchased T, and I have owned VZ for a while, these have current yields north of 6%.
