Observing Memorial Day is part of being an American...

I suppose we could have a lively discussion regarding the fact that I could take the counter point. That having the right NOT to observe Memorial Day (or any other state sanctioned day of acknowledgement) is what America is about. Freedom of decision.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am sure you can understand my point.

If we lived in a country where having to show up at a ceremony on any given day, or thinking the "right thoughts" about that day's prominence, were conditions of being a free citizen of that State...that would not be America.

But from my personal standpoint, honor to all who served and who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
