I think the personal story is part of the whole package.

I don't think one's gender or cultural heritage determine whether one has the intellectual prowess to be a Supreme Court Justice.

I also think it's ridiculous for anyone to make a broad statement to the effect that her gender and heritage make her opinions better than those of white men.

If anything, the fact that Justice Sotomayer went to fancy Ivy League schools despite her modest family background suggests that affirmative action paved the way. Unfortunately, not all beneficiaries of affirmative action programs met the same exacting standards as their white male brethren.

That's no doubt why we haven't seen BO's grades.

So, Justice Sotomayer's qualifications need to be evaluated based on the opinions she's authored and how she presents herself.

So far, she's not looking particularly good.
