Ted, > Highland Park. That's where the breakins occurred. But all the other incidents took place in good neighborhoods......Los Feliz, Miracle Mile, Hancock Park.....the fires were 5 blocks east of Hancock Park. The rioters were repelled just on the border of Beverly Hills. It took LAPD helping Beverly Hills PD to make it happen.

I've hardly been around the Highland Park area, so I'm not too familiar with it. Yeah, the LAPD will go all out to ensure that Beverly Hills is protected. I'll never forget when lily white Police Chief Daryll Gates did just that while leaving Koreans to fend for themselves during the L.A. Riots.

> BTW see much graffiti around the OC?

I see enough around Garden Grove and Westminster where the 22 freeway is. Plenty of Hispanic and Vietnamese gangs working the area. There was even one citizen who dared to confront a tagger, only to be violently assaulted for meddling in that jerk's "artistry."

I don't pretend that where I live is such a perfect place, but rough spots are everywhere. New York City has its spots, of course. Washington, D.C. has its spots, too; ask any white Congressperson whether he or she even dares to walk 50 paces SE from the Capitol. Even the Puget Sound has its rough spots; how often do YOU go to Tacoma, for instance?
