Koan the outraged. Always making nonsense. The fact is that most Americans who call themselves pro-life or pro-choice are somewhere in between. Very few believe that no abortion should be permitted under any circumstances and very few believe that we should go so far as partial birth abortion. These issues were in the process of being addressed by State legislatures when the Supreme Court, a non elected body whose members hold their jobs for life exercised dictatorial policies and took the issue away from the voters.

Whatever one might think of the result of Roe, even pro choice commentators agree that is makes no sense, legally. The law is built on precedent. There was no precedent for Roe, and worse, it is impossible to weave Roe into the overall fabric of the law.

If the court had allowed the states to address the issue through legislation, as they were doing, the issue would not be nearly as contentious as it is and the constitution would not have been violated.
