I’m not sure I can agree with this. I agree that our votes are private and that people should always be respectful of one another, but once you start providing money to influence the vote of others, I don’t see why that should be private. The money from supporters is to influence other voters. It doesn’t require a donation to vote a certain way. Do you think all campaign contributions should be private? I don’t think transparency is a problem at all. We need more of it. We should be able to know who is paying for all those ads on TV trying to influence the vote. If you are not willing to stand up in public for what you believe then keep that money in your back pocket.
