Good idea. Start off with a fairly low rate and gradually increase it. Combine that with a build up of the infrastructure needed to get the NG to market.

Meantime they could be working on Wind, Nuclear, Solar geothermal etc etc etc.

But what really distinguishes NG is how quickly a much higher and sustained level of production could be brought on board.

It's there for the taking.

I'd rather see a floor put on oil. Make it $80 or $90 and then if it falls below that, tax it to get it back to that amount. Use the taxes collected to spur substitutes. That's the best thing we could do.
