The point is that 80% of my Federal tax is incurred in the last 40 hour of work.As I give 10% to charity I am already paying out about 52% of the last dollar earned( not including FICA).If I worked in a salaried position as a banker and made 500k-600k a year it would not likely effect my work decisions. In my situation it will make a differance. Why do you think Europe uses a VAT? It stimulates savings penalizes consumption and allows them to raise money without too much distortion of the incentive to work. The US has little option-bring it on!I am for a dollar a gallon additional fuel tax also.

just in in-tray, wise words

One of the reasons why US wealth producers will be taxed to death in coming years is the rising power of public sector worker unions. They have become mighty voting blocks , and politcians do whatever is deemed necessary to buy their votes. Recently Obama threatened to withhold 'stimulus' money from California if it were to make modest cuts in health care worker salaries (the fact that California is de facto, if not yet de iure, bankrupt, is apparently of secondary importance. California's mighty Service Employees International Union was reportedly allowed to 'listen in' on the phone conversations between Obama and the representatives of the state).

The highest paid teachers in the nation reside in California (they earn 25% above average), and they allegedly provide some of the worst education available in the US. They do however have one of the most powerful unions behind them.

Local governments are increasingly held hostage by the bureraucratic unions. The average public sector employee these days earns 46% more in total benefits than a comparable private sector employee (according to a study by the Employee Benefit Research Center) - and this happy state of affairs is now defended tooth and nail.

Public sector unions are working tirelessly to make tax revolts more difficult, by e.g. supporting legislation that makes it more difficult to pass and enact voter initiatives and referenda. They are also doing their best to help stall property tax reforms to protect the state's 'take'.

The parasites are slowly but surely devouring the host.

suggestion: leave the empire, and/or get an invitation/rsvp to parasite ball, and/or getgold, or, best, do all three.
