Newt was fiscally conservative. I'll give you that, but so was Clinton. They both worked in concert to get us to a surplus, helped along by good economic times. Never before nor since have we had a fiscal conservative partnership like that.

I just get plain sick of hearing this myth that the GOP is more fiscally conservative than the Dems. It is simply propaganda. The fact is that neither party is fiscally conservative. The only difference is what they spend our deficits and debt on. The GOP spends it on tax breaks and war and the Dems spend it on social programs for Americans. Take your pick. Either way, neither party knows how to balance a budget.
