Household and business debt levels are also important concerns, but the main concern for the government should be the government debt. Its something they can and should do something about. And household and business debt is (painfully) being reduced now.

Also to the extent that federal deficits, or debt go down, that improves the whole situation with regard to total debt levels, even if the other debt is unchanged.
