Here is one that I use - nothing fancy, they don't tell you how long a period the value reflects, and I believe it's only for selected stocks

packaged option programs such as optionvue can calculate historical volatility of any stock or index over a given time frame. they will also calculate the implied volatility of any option. there will often emerge wide divergences between historical volatility and what the price of the option suggests about market direction (implied volatility).

for a current day to day market view there is the volatility index which tracks the implied volatility of the oex. on my quote service the symbol is vix.x. currently it's standing at 45%!!!!
