And the Dems* just talk about the benefits not the costs. And that's understandable as its more a political debate than an investment decision. Each side has already made their "investment decision", it might not be set in stone, but for now they have their opinion. With a normal investment decision you decide and execute your decision, but with a decision about government spending its mostly about how many people and how many political players you can line up behind your "investment decision".

At least for a strong and/or rapid move towards renewable energy, the costs far outweigh the benefits but that's not a convenient talking point for your side of the argument.

* Its not really a staight partisan thing, but it leans that way and I'm following your lead here
