The market is clearly viewing the government's efforts as junk bond friendly, in spite of the deafening cries of "unfair!" among those hoping for a bank-like auto bond bonanza.

The high-yield bond funds I watch have gone up steadily the last several days despite the Chrysler news.

The idea that this will chill corporate bond issuance is a blogger-spin myth.

As you know, there are number of factors that impact the day to day performance of the bond funds. Taking a month's worth of performance as the final word on the matter is like those who declared Obama's economic initiatives doomed because the market was tanking in February.

Regardless of the long-term impact on the bond market, as a matter of principle, the government shouldnt be treated differently than other lenders (unless that is expressly allowed by the current laws).
