That was helpful.

I had been having some problems with the interjection of the word "empathy" into this nomination. It made me nervous personally because I don't like the idea of feelings influencing interpretation to the extent it makes law, and then the word itself has that 'bleeding heart liberal'its a word that easily offered itself to the talkshow conservative attack, and obscured the real question about her record.

Dionne's point about searching for balance against the very conservative, robotic Roberts was a good one, and it sounds like typical Obama.

The charges of being an intellectual lightweight and racially prejudiced are standard fare from one party about the other.

Roberts has been a disappointment. For some reason, I thought he would be more moderate, perhaps vote across party lines, even though being a conservative pick.

Don't remember why, at the time, I thought that.
