Is there a limit of some kind there re. women.. Would anything stop Obama from appointing another woman IF another position opens up there..

Oh, I think so too, which is why it's funny when it gets hurled from the opposite side.
But I think the goal for a judge would be to keep it separate from the legal analysis, or be very conscious of it if it's informing his decision significantly. Obama's use of the word empathy may not have been the best, imo, and I also think this emphasis on her lifestory is overdone- at least in terms of it being a major legal qualification. But again, that's just personal opinion.
