Wrong. The market has never been free in energy to the extent that it has been free in software or in the general tech industry. Oil and coal have bought and sold our government to such a great extent that we even fight wars on behalf of oil to ensure they get access to the price oil spots around the world. Free enterprise can't compete with the government's support of oil.

That is precisely why we need government intervention to roll back the overwhelming support for oil and coal in our policies and to spur on renewable energy until it has matured enough to compete without government help.

It's clear that you really don't understand how private enterprise works, since you complete ignore the role government has played in incubating industries in this country. Silicon Valley itself is a model of the virtuous partnership between academia, government, and private enterprise. That is the secret sauce to Silicon Valley's wealth creation engine.

Of course, I wouldn't expect you to understand that.
