Agreed. This is why I don't think it is fair to put the renewable energy industry against the oil industry without some government assistance. It is necessary for the government to play an incubator role until renewable energy takes off. It is an investment worth every penny. Other ideas like using natural gas as a bridging energy source and streamlining regulations for nuclear power are also something we should do.

But for us to create a free market in energy, we have to roll back the subsidies and incentives for oil and coal and shift that to renewable energy in the short term.
