If the income was produced in the US, and the company fraudulently claims it was produced in Bermuda, than its somewhat similar to other criminals hiding the money off shore. (Not "no different", because avoiding handing money off to the government isn't an abuse of anyone else and isn't inherently criminal, but is a violation of our laws).

But if the income was not produced in the US, the US government has no legitimate claim to it. It gives itself a legal claim, but its a rather illegitimate claim.
