Wow, my favorite? That's a toughy, there were lots of places that each has its own charm and reason to remember... I thought Nice in France was nice (no pun), we were in Monte Carlo and drove 12 miles to Nice... Nice was like an impresssionist painting itself with outdoor shops where they sold everything, i.e., flowers, fruit, fish, and so on... Nice is a city on the water, very romantic and picturesque... of course, we were in Cannes for the festival, I also thought the ruins of Pompeii near Naples were enormously interesting for many reasons, all the ancient homes there had running water built by the Romans and the water still runs there and is very drinkable today... also interesting were the ruins in Delos in Greece and the ruins at Ephesus in Turkey which is still an active archeological dig where only a portion the ancient city has been uncovered... Istanbul had a sort of charm, but I have no reason to want to go back there... the southern parts of the Tuscany region in Italy were absolutely beautiful, incredible scenery... I thought Madiera and Gibraltar were nice, there were wild apes living in Gibraltar and they were all over the place... you couldn't smile and show your teeth in their sight or they would attack you, you couldn't eat anything in their sight or they would grab it from you... we went to so many other places too... my favorite place on this trip? That's not an easy question...<g> GZ
