John, Here's what I do, make a table with FY97 earnings, FY98 earnings, current earnings (avg of 97 & 98), 5 yr projected growth rate, Price to "current" earnings ratio, and PEG (PE divided by FYGR). Compare the PEG of the three and buy the lowest. If PEG < 1, the shares are undervalued. MRVC has PEG = 0.73 which says it's 27% below fair value of $36.8. Please everyone, let's not start a debate about fair value and how to best compute it. IT'S WAY UNDERVALED any way you look at it. I don't know about SNDK, and I've payed a little attention to XYLN. I doubt they'll outshine MRVC in this comparison. If you do this comparison, will you please post your numbers; I'd like to know the result. Best of luck. Stu B.

If you must buy tommorrow , buy MRVC . It has a much more certain future. I bought MRVC at 24 & sold at 38.5 after Bear gave their very weak buy recomendation. My inclination is to step away for about 6 mths , to let the dust settle. Almost bought SFAM at around 55 its now 38 . I would have been crushed. Cash is pretty valuable right now. IDTI is my only position now , I will wait that one out . If you are going to buy , KNOW the company well so you don't get blind-sided. I must admitt , never did I think MRVC would cross below 30 , my plan was to re-purchase after earnings around 36 & ride the next leg up to 45 & beyond. This looks like a great value here but , geez - to much fear right now in the markets, which stocks will have earnings revisions for 98 ? Help , where is Kovich , were is Seattle Dan.
