China has probably killed the creation of ten times that many jobs trying to save the panda. They aren't as big a bunch of heartless, greedy capitalists as you assume.

I'm sure they're willing to let all the non-cute animals die though.

ALL this BS kinda sums up why the Chinese will be running the World 50 years from now.

They don't allow their whole government to get shut down because some people with very specific views want to get their point across.

Let's not forget Tiananmen Square.
