<Default, even at this late stage, is still avoidable - but only with Draconian measures> Actually, default is not avoidable -- that is the point. We can have some influence over the rate of default, but as to whether or not default is avoidable we have already passed the point of no return. This is now beginning to be priced into the market -- and this repricing has a long way to go. As the dollar is repriced there will be severe consequences for all of us.
