--OFF TOPIC--
>>>Actually, you've got it precisely 180 degrees off. It is liberalism that cannot withstand analysis and is akin a false religion. Hasn't worked, never will, but they persist.<<<

Conservatives are inflexible and are loathe to evolve with changing conditions...which is precisely why their beliefs are always extreme, outdated, and self-centered. Always arrogantly wishing to impose their values upon others. Not much difference between them and commies.

Liberals flip-flop, often attempt to fix what isn't broke, and are also extreme...but to the opposite polarity. Not much difference between them and hippies.

All politicians suck and should be dumped butt-naked in south central LA with crack rocks sewn to their genitals and swastikas tattooed on their foreheads. But then our system happens to be the lesser evil...so I deal with it. I vote for whoever provides me with the most to gain from their election, party be damned. And I vote against anyone who is pushing something that dictates anything in MY life. This is capitalism, baby, and I plan to make the most of it!

I'm as anti-conformist as you can get. Laws are one thing, but no one tells me what the hell to do on my property, or how to live my life. So conservatives and liberals can kiss my ass. HA!

Style Pts.

Duncan, you have me pegged wrong. I am neither a liberal nor a conservative. I refer to myself as radical middle of the roader. Both ends of the political spectrum in the US have become doctrinaire and unbending. It is to be expected of conservatives. I am more critical of liberals because, by definition, liberalism should be constantly re-evaluating it's methods and trying new solutions when the old ones don't work. Liberal thinking in the US has changed little since FDR's time and has been absolutly frozen since the days of Kennedy/LBJ.

I believe this discussion has gone far enough here on the csco thread. If you are interested in a true discussion of ideas, start a thread in the Coffee Shop and post the URL here one time.

Regards

Is this thread about CSCO or politics??

Although I believe the outlook for CSCO will be very promising over the long haul, I would be very leery about adding to my position at this time. For whose that have held the stock for six months or more (as I have), you've already incurred a respectable return on investment (at todays price of $80), and this might be a good time to turn some of that "money on paper" into real money. I say this for the following reasons:

(1). The recent highs (before this Asian thing) were in the mid 80's. It might be expecting a lot to see it go above that soon after all this turmoil.

(2). After this recent "correction" we've had in the overall market, people are looking much closer at high P/E evaluations. For this reason, I tend to agree with James T.'s post (#9834), and strictly based on numbers, see COMS as a better buy in the telecommunication sector.

(3). The earnings release is coming up next week (Tuesday, I believe). In this market climate, it better be better than expected. Even some of the Tech stocks that exceeded expectations got hammered if they even hinted that future growth might not be as high as previously. And that was before Asia. If they miss by only slightly, or don't word it properly, watch out.

(4). The Asian currency problem is not over yet, and CSCO is a player in that market. We could see more of what we saw in the last week.

(5). The upgrades today has me a little worried. Often MM's do this after they are fully loaded on the stock and are trying to get the last ounce of momentum for their clients before selling. Then comes the downgrade (maybe I just don't trust them).

(JMO).

PS. Stop wasting your time arguing with Style Pt. He's too liberal to admit his politics is all screwed up. - - - On second thought, I was about to give up on my daughter a few years back when she got in with the wrong crowd. Eventually she woke up, realized they weren't her faithful friends after all, started to educate herself, even listened to talk radio (RL), started her own business, and now has an entirely new outlook on life. Maybe there's hope for Style Pt. yet.
