Lindy, Pakistan sent a group to attack India in Mumbai, with a special attack on a Jewish target. It was carnage. Pakistan has conducted decades of attacks in Kashmir and Moslems in general conduct carnage in India. Islamic ideology is not like Buddhist and Hindu ideology. Pakistan always seems to be spoiling for a fight. If I was India I'd be stocking up with hydrogen bombs on cruise missiles. <Why India needs nuclear-tipped cruise missiles is beyond me, but most of their ongoing military modernization betrays a profoundly immature view of the possibilities of great-power war. On this score, they disappoint immensely. Because if they're that stupid on their force structure, how out of control might they be on the actual employment? > The possibility of "great-power war" is that Islamic Jihad in Pakistan will nuke India, giving it all they've got. 164 million in Pakistan versus 1000 million in India, with nukes already in India, suggests there are more intelligent things for Pakistan to do than continue attacking India. But Islamic Jihad is not closely interested in intelligent behaviour, they are more into totalitarian alpha male theocracy. It took some Daisy Cutters in Tora Bora to knock some sense into Al Qaeda. Maybe Pakistan's fanatics also need to be softened up and shown the one true path to being the so-called religion of peace. If the USA was getting regular murderous incursions in New York and Washington as India has put up with, the writer might find it tempting to tip cruise missiles with all sorts. The USA was so put out about the Twin Towers that they didn't just attack Afghanistan but unleashed shock and awe in Baghdad. Indians are likewise reluctant to put up with such attacks. If you count nukes, my guess is that the USA still has more than the USSR and the reasoning for the USA making them was similar to the reason India wants them. It makes sense that India gets them.
