>>So your "counter-argument" is that property taxes don't pay for services?<<

to a large degree, yes. i cited specific examples to bolster the argument - and you are left speechless. 50% increases to state pensions. 20% increases to teacher's salaries. we have the highest paid teachers in the nation - AND THEY WANT MORE! this in spite of a near 30-50% drop out rate in LA unified.

you claim we are getting more services for the 80% spent by the government over the last 10-11 years, yet you don't provide a single example so we can compare the value of such an alleged service.

arguing against the truth is hard, no? i'll bet you go back to what you do best - ad hominem.

>>Lovely! Just deny reality so that you don't have to deal with a complex economic situation.<<

what is complex about the CA government over spending on fat pay increases and 50% pension increases and no fee health care?

it is simple.

CA residents have the HIGHEST income tax in the nation that triggers at the lowest income level. CA has the HIGHEST gas tax in the nation. CA has the HIGHEST car tax in the nation. CA has the highest sales tax in the nation. CA has the highest business tax west of the mississippi.

yet guys like Steve C think the problem is that these HIGHEST taxes just aren't HIGH ENOUGH?

THEY NEED TO BE EVEN HIGHER!

this in spite of the fact that scale should lead to EFFICIENCIES so our services SHOULD COST LESS than smaller states, NOT MORE.

ALL FACTS STEVE C WILL NEVER TELL YOU ABOUT - IT IS CONTRARY TO HIS AGENDA.

>>And you seem to have completely ignored the fact that prior to Prop. 13 high property tax communities generally had the highest home prices.<<

all else wasn't equal. those communities were deemed to be superior in ways other than their higher property tax.

they weren't bought into in drove *because* of their higher property tax.

a repeal of prop 13 would do nothing to improve a community's relative qualitative characteristics.

your argument is null and void.

>>It's convenient to ignore facts that run counter to your thinking,>>

you would know! ignoring the 20% pay increases and the 50% pension increases and the no fee health care and expenses increasing 60% faster than population and inflation can't be easy on the conscience, but you do it anyway!

>>but do you have any hope of making money in a market that way? But then, you don't actually have money right?<<

yep - i knew it - another ad hominem attack. guys like you are so predictable.

Steve, feel free to waste your money putting a repeal of prop 13 ont he ballot.

the citizens of CA will smack your prop 13 repeal down like a the sucker in wrestling ring.

*every* group tossed out the stupid prop 1A massive tax increase on the poor and the unemployed and those with children - the overall tally being 2-1 against.

that's a route.

you can cry about the biggest government not being bigger and not enough of a nanny to you, but all you'll get are tears - no more money.

several republicans are in the process of recall for their pro tax back stab votes - some of whom signed no new tax pledges. these recalls will be successful.

the citizenry is done. live within your means. quite sucking other people dry.

we are taxed enough.
