Divx News (Recall that Zenith has the exclusive early distribution rights for Divx DVD sales): "DIVX STUDYING EARLY SOFTWARE RELEASE Circuit City's Digital Video Express wants to release movie discs before titles' actual street date, Chmn.-CEO Richard Sharp told VSDA board at Oct. 17-18 fall meeting in Chicago." This could be ba blockbuster announcement for Divx (Circuit City) and Zenith if the studios agree. Imagine a hot film coming out and Divx owners getting to rent it two weeks prior to official release. Divx dealers (Zenith dealers included) would have great traffic from film buffs wanting to get the early jump. What better market to also sell them HDTVs, SDTVs, audio equipment, etc. when they rent/buy their Divx flics?
