I grew up in a mill town (paper/plywood) and it was the same thing. The per-capita number of missing limbs and fingers MUST have been 10x the average. It was like everyone was missing something; I had several friends that lost hands, arms or feet.

I worked at a steelmill in the mid-70's. Same one that Roberts from the supreme court worked at.

A good buddy of mine lost his index finger. He got $1800 bucks for that. Another fellow there had lost 2 fingers and was called the "three toed sloth". I don't know, but I guess he got $3600.


Thanks for pointing out the dangers. I only experienced the boredom. Makes you wonder why people like Joe are so quick to trash these guys.
