"The revelation this month in GQ Magazine that Donald Rumsfeld as Defense Secretary embellished top-secret wartime memos with quotations from the Bible prompts a question."

.........

I certainly hope this turns out not to be true. That's just crazy stuff. If true, this admin of Bush's was far more loco than I thought they were.

That's chilling, Suma. I wouldn't be surprised either that it's pretty much a true account. Bible prophicies, esp. the end of times ones, are just a big part of the overall evangelical movement that had so much influence over the Bush WH. From day one, I worried that there would be US political machinations in the ME such that those prophesies became self-fulfilling.

Bible prophesies, IMO, are waaaay too vague to spend time worrying over, much less acting on. Gog and Magog coming 'out of the North'? Who's to say that doesn't mean Denmark or Sweden....yikes.

WOW. This explains everything. Shrub's wild paranoia (& Cheney's) and his belief that "he was on a mission from God" explains why he thought he was above the Congress, Courts and the Constitution...

It also explains all of the efforts to have the military industrial complex and many other "ordinary corporations" participating in groups that are spying on ordinary American citizens every day, all across the nation.

Those guys are clinically psychotic in my opinion and the American people put them at the helm. What does that say about the condition of our "Democracy"????
